A Prayer for Families This Easter

Lent has begun and Easter is just around the corner. Can you believe that Resurrection Sunday is only six weeks away?

Would you join me now in praying for God to do a great work in families this Easter season? This prayer is based on Psalm 24.

Almighty God,

The earth is Yours, and everything in it,
    the world, and all who live in it;
for You founded it on the seas
    and established it on the waters.

Who may ascend Your mountain, O Lord?
    Who may stand in Your holy place?
The one who has clean hands and a pure heart,
    who does not trust in an idol
    or swear by a false god.

They will receive blessing from the Lord
    and vindication from God their Savior.
Such is the generation of those who seek Him,
    who seek Your face, God of Jacob.

Lord, forgive us for the many ways we have fallen short of your perfect, righteous standard. Forgive us for turning to other things for comfort, love, direction, strength, and worship. You alone are God and You alone deserve all our worship.

I ask that you would work in the hearts of me, my family, and the families of this city, this state, this country, and this world. Reveal Yourself as the one true God who alone holds salvation from sin and darkness. May Your light shine brightly in our hearts, minds, and lives. Draw others to know You during this holy season so You may receive greater glory.

Reveal Yourself to the seeking. Bring godly men, women, teenagers, and children into the lives of those who need to hear the Truth. Reveal sins and turn hearts to You.

Help all of us, kids, teenagers, and adults alike, to be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. Give us opportunities to share Christ with those we meet. Clearly show us who to share Jesus with and how. We ask that whenever we speak, words may be given us so that we will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which we are ambassadors. We pray that we may declare it fearlessly, as we should (Ephesians 6:18-20).

Raise up a generation who loves You with all they are and all they do, with their whole hearts, their whole minds, and all their actions. May Your love flow through us so we can impact the world for Christ and to Your greater glory.

Open the doors of our hearts and our cities that the King of Glory may come in.

Lift up your heads, you gates;
    be lifted up, you ancient doors,
    that the King of glory may come in.
Who is this King of glory?
    The Lord strong and mighty,
    the Lord mighty in battle.
Lift up your heads, you gates;
    lift them up, you ancient doors,
    that the King of glory may come in.
Who is he, this King of glory?
    The Lord Almighty—
    he is the King of glory.

All praise, honor, and glory to the King of glory.

Amen.
