Gayle Young is one of our biggest fans. She especially likes this “3 Circle Gospel” video. During leader meetings, she has recommended it to Vacation Bible School teachers and Sunday School leaders.
At her last teacher meeting, she went a step further. She began by sharing how her call to the ministry began. It started when she was asked to teach one week in an adult Sunday school class. When asked what to teach, she was told to answer the question, “Will our children believe?”
Gayle began searching the Scriptures to answer the question for herself. She ended up in Deuteronomy 6.
Love God, your God, with your whole heart: love him with all that’s in you, love him with all you’ve got! Write these commandments that I’ve given you today on your hearts. Get them inside of you and then get them inside your children. Talk about them wherever you are, sitting at home or walking in the street; talk about them from the time you get up in the morning to when you fall into bed at night.
Deuteronomy 6:5-7 MSG
The answer to the question is simple. Will our children believe? They will if we teach them what to believe. (See also Proverbs 22:6.)
After sharing this testimony, each teacher and leader in the room received a laminated bookmark that she had printed from our website. It has Deuteronomy 6:5-7 on one side and a Gospel presentation on the back (mostly the Roman Road).
Praise the Lord for leaders like Gayle who encourage parents and leaders to ground children in the truth!
