What are the top movies, albums, and TV shows for the end of March/beginning of April? How can we talk with kids about the things they are seeing and hearing?
DISCLAMER: Plugged In reviews movies, videos, music, TV and games from a Christian perspective. Their mission is to shine a light on the world of popular entertainment. Parent Road Ministries is not affiliated with Plugged In. We simply get their weekly e-newsletters. This resource has proved helpful enough for us that we want to share its reviews with you.
We have a variety of things headlining in the media right now. One common theme I see is how we relate to others. Whether we are a misfit alien, a zombie, trying to figure out life, or trying to get ahead, it all comes down to relationships. How do we treat the people around us? How do they treat us? How should we respond to that? Kids encounter this every day, just like adults. The answers are not always easy. Still, God never said life would be easy. He did, however, promise to always be with us to show us how to live, trusting in Him. Because we love God and know that Jesus died for us, we then have reason and an example to follow in loving others.
Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. On the contrary:
“If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.”Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
Romans 12:17-21 (NIV)
