Eyes Fixed on Jesus

Have you ever felt overwhelmed, distracted, discouraged, angry, or that life is just plain too hard? It is easy to loose focus in this world, especially for kids and busy parents.

How to Keep Focus

Feelings fade like falling leaves, but God’s promises endure. Have you ever felt overwhelmed, distracted, discouraged, angry, or that life is just plain too hard? The life of a kid and that of a busy parent is an emotional roller coaster. It is easy to loose focus in this world, especially for busy parents. The solution is to focus on Christ. Remember that you are not alone.

Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Hebrews 12:1-3 (NASB)

When we make Jesus our all in all and live for Him, other things fall into place. It doesn’t matter what we feel or what others think of us. God loves you. Jesus gave His life to pay for your sins. That’s the greatest love there is (John 15:13). No one can take that away. Life will not always be perfect, but Jesus never leaves us (Hebrews 13:5-6). Because of Jesus, we can talk directly to God (Hebrews 4:15-16). It is because Jesus died and rose again that our sins are forgiven (read more here).

Keep your eyes fixed on Christ and don’t let feelings, other people, or distractions convince you that God won’t keep His promises. He always does.

Praying Together

Jesus prayed a lot. He went off by Himself to spend time with the Father (Luke 15:6). He prayed in front of His disciples (John 17). He also invited them to pray with Him (Matthew 26:36-38). We want to pray for you (Ephesians 1:18; 6:18). How can we pray for you today, this week, and this month? Please shoot us an email or write a comment below to share your requests.

You can pray for us too. Here is a specific ways you can pray for us this month:

  • We’ve begun the search for a part-time Public Relations Officer. Please pray God brings us the person He has in mind for this ministry.

Lord,

Please forgive me for the many times I’ve taken my eyes off of You and gotten caught up in my own little world. I feel like I can fix things, but I can’t. Please help me keep my eyes fixed on You. Help me to live for You every moment of every day, no matter what I feel. When I forget, please quickly bring me back to You. Thank you for taking my punishment for sin so I can live in a right relationship with You.

Amen.
