What Is Your Favorite Part of Christmas?

What is your favorite part of Christmas?

I seem to be asking that a lot this year as I am getting to know new kids and adults in the area.  I’ve heard some surprising answers too:

  • Spending time with family (from adults, teens, and kids).
  • Handing out gifts to people in the hospital (from a younger child).
  • The colors (from a teenager).
  • Christmas just isn’t the same since Mom died, but I do it for the kids.  –So then the kids are your favorite part of Christmas?  –(Brightening a little) Yeah, I guess they are (from an adult).
  • Remembering Jesus (from a preteen).

So, what is YOUR favorite part of Christmas?  How about the rest of your family?

Find a good time this season to go around the room and ask.  Maybe over a meal one day.

These answers point to part of our worldview. A worldview is how we make sense of ourselves, other people, and the world around us. In this case, what we are really asking is this: “What do you think is the most important thing about Christmas?”

Now ask yourselves:  What do you think God’s favorite part of Christmas might be?

If you’re not sure or to double check your answer, look at what the Bible says.

“Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.”

Luke 2:11 (NIV)
