You know that developing a godly character in your children is important. But how do you make sure your child’s heart is involved and not just outward obedience?

This insightful article by Natasha Crain got me thinking. Much of Christian children’s curriculum emphasizes good character traits. There is nothing wrong with that per se, but how do we make sure these traits stick as our children grow older?

The answer lies in a deep commitment to Christ and the life-changing work of the Holy Spirit in the hearts of believers.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge;
Fools despise wisdom and instruction.”

Psalm 1:7 (NASB)

As you help your children develop a godly character, be sure to include important lessons about who God is. Don’t shy away from the tough theology questions. Share what you know. Study the Bible together to continue learning. In short, invite your children to begin exploring the deep things of God.
